Yesterday at lunch I took a break from mocking our favorite members of the forum to hit up some dim sum with my man Lopan.
We were talking about our vision for the 44s, where we've been, and where we're going. We were talking about how anger can be healthy, but not crazy hatred and spewing shit everywhere, and what the 44s would really like to do if we had the power and influence.
One thing is this: we wanna make 44 a symbol for being Asian-American OR being strongly interested in Asian-American ART and issues. The reason why we think 44 is so powerful is because it has strong Asian connotations, but AT THE SAME TIME has strong modern connotations: it's like we know 4's a bad number, but we don't give a fuck, we don't live there, and we're gonna do our thing here.
Then Lopan started talking about Bruce Lee, as he does in every single conversation we have ever had.
And in his mind, Bruce Lee had it EXACTLY RIGHT. I'm gonna try to quote the Lopes as best as I remember:
"Bruce Lee was right! He knew exactly what to do. We come to America. We create Asian institutions. We fuck their women [and men]. We make these rich White dudes come to US, pay US money to teach them how to be like US."
Y'see, Bruce, sure he was an angry dude, he played an angry dude, and he understood angry dudes. But he didn't let that shit consume him. And he wasn't filled with hate. He was cool. He was FUCKING COOL. And he knew it, and he let it show, and then EVERYONE ELSE knew it too.
So that's what we gotta do. We gotta show everyone HOW FUCKING COOL we are. If you're not cool, then that's okay, get cool. If you are, then keep spreading that shit.
With this in mind, we'd like to introduce our three newest moderators: Pimp Kim Chee, Rainshowerz, and Xian.
Now we know some of you have a problem with Xian. But you know, if you're gonna spit on someone or refuse to acknowledge their worldview 'cause of they're blood, we're gonna shoot you because of your stupidity.
Bruce wouldn't've had a problem with Xian. He was too cool for this petty shit. As a matter of fact, he was trying to make Xians!
And you know the best part? Most folks remember Lee as a fighter, but more accurately, he was a martial artist. He was an actor, an action star, a writer, hell he even took ballet. You see how you can be a fighting man, and still be an artist, and even a philosopher? Bruce Lee was such a man, and he was an artist.
So you guys will be seeing some changes over the next month or two, perhaps subtle, perhaps significant, we're still discussing details at this point. Just remember in everything we do, we wanna show the world just how fucking cool we are, and we want to make them come to us.
We see where Bruce was headed, and he's one of us. We're gonna carry him with us in our head and in our hearts as we walk further down the same road that he walked all those years ago. He won't be so lonely anymore, and we won't be so scared, knowing the Dragon had our backs even before we were fuckin' born.
