A concerned forum participant sent us the following email:
Dudes,
You guys have to stop editing/deleting (or whatever you do) comments. This is supposed to be an open forum where people can be free to express their opinions. If not, what's the difference between your site and other people's site?
One of the main reasons that we're attracted to your site is that we can be honest! I mean, that's why I check out your site on a daily basis to see how my fellow Asian bros feel about things that affect their lives! Otherwise, my only other alternative to is see some white boy's view on the world.
So what if people argue?! It actually enlightens people to hear and see various arguments. We can see where we are right and/or wrong. We need each other to bounce around views and opinions. Nothing wrong with that, no?
This is our response:
We understand your feelings; we don't edit any posts (except our own), although we might make editions to the titles of other people's posts for clarity's sake.
As for deleting, yeah we do that: I have deleted member posts, along with several of the Core44s: mostly mine, those of Zhaogao and even a few of Tojo's earlier on.
TWO factors differentiate our forum from those of other yellow sites:
1) Freedom of expression. We don't really care if you say something we disagree with.
2) Intelligence. This is a BIG one. If you intelligently say something we don't like, it's cool. If you sound like a moron, or start degenerating into dumbass bigotry and name-calling, we will delete or lock down the shit because stupidity is almost as bad as evil. Sometimes it can be worse.
As I said, arguing and bouncing around opinions is fine. Mindless attacks or props or barely readable English is not. Now we may not have been wholly consistent in this, and shit might slip through 'cause the forum is growing like nuts, but we're gonna do our best to maintain a certain standard.
Otherwise you get dumbasses who are not even capable of being fully rational, and can't really type in English, posting a shitload of useless comments on the intrinsic evil of people with mixed blood or how Whitey is genetically predisposed to dominate people. That shit's not gonna fly.
