I think Obama could've been both more academic AND more personable (for, as you said, the dumb vote). McCain was doing his part to make Obama look inexperienced. I think Obama should've done his part to make McCain look more ignorant. He should've started quoted economists; McCain would've lost it because he doesn't understand the economy.

The need for the dumb vote is a given, but maybe dumb people won't vote for other dumb people if they see how it could affect their jobs and standards of living.

One thing that McCain said that got people confused was when he said that the average North Korean was 4 inches shorter than their southern counterparts because of the oppression they face.

Many people don't seem to understand the connection between height and nutrition/environment (and correlate that with why Asians have been shorter than whites in the past century)

I think John McCain won the debate because he seemed to have cornered the dumb vote, (which is actually the majority of voting Americans). McCain said Obama was wrong on numerous occasions while Obama said McCain was right. Also McCain told lots of stories while Obama sounded more like an academic (which is negative when you're dumb).

I'm quite disappointed actually. The whole debate was weak with the candidates kinda just tap-dancing around the real issues. And did anyone else find it weird when McCain referred to himself as Miss Congeniality not once, but twice in the debate?
