Actually, I remember a couple of times when atheist members have debated believers on this site and have characterized Christians generally as the ethnocentric conservative type, and the debate devolved into one talking about the diversity within the Christian religion and how there are more liberal/ pluralistic types too.

Ike, that's awesome! On a sidenote, I just jogged past an Anglican church today wishing everyone happy Gay Pride on its message sign, with a little rainbow flag on the name sign next to the door. I could see them having philosophical differences with their southern U.S. brothers and sisters.

Off topic:

My friend posted the following on my Facebook wall:
"Wow. The odds of A+B+C happening in the same day where A is me looking at your facebook page (~1 in 700), B is me following a link off your page (~1 in 2100), and C is there being an article about Anglicanism (the communion of which I share) followed by a picture of racing Canoeists (which I also do) (1 in ???? something large...) Wow."

You guys just made his day. =)

I think most of the religious people on this site tend to fall into the liberal category. The debates that take place between liberal Christians and atheists are usually quite friendly, and even though we never agree, we can at least know what our differences in belief are. I think the more vicious debates usually take place when we get conservatives with the "believe or the wrath of God shall imperil thee" mentality.
