I have to read the transcript to fully digest what he said, but I thought that the speech was really great. It was simple and clear--too bad that some people are too stupid to understand what he said. Sigh.

I'm a Clinton supporter, and I've always found Obama's (lack of clear or unique positions, IMO) rather irritating. I've also found his supporters to be...less than clear on the realities of politics, in may cases.

However, my opinion on his character has never been higher. He handled this Wright situation fairly well (ie- didn't completely sell out his mentor), although the speech was a bit much (I really didn't need to hear a history lesson, and I don't think people who never had these conversations will have them now because the Senator brought them up).

Perhaps I'm too pessimistic.

It was a good speech; I haven't watched the video but I read the transcript. A buddy of mine read an article, I think in the Canadian Globe and Mail, which said that his speech was too subtle and long, therefore making it unpalatable for the masses and opening him up to race-based attacks and criticism, which seems to be what's happening now, at least when I watched CNN the day before yesterday. ("A New Race Problem"? The bullshit just keeps piling on ....)
