[quote]the conviction of Hmong American Chai Vang in the shooting of six fellow hunters.[/i]
That was right in my area, and they neglect to mention the Hmong Hunter who was shot and killed by three 'white' hunters nearly a year before. It has been confirmed that racial slurs were used both times. Or the three Hmong teenagers who disappeared after a scuffle at a bar, or this Hmong girl's rape and murder which was thought to be under investigated, or even the still suspicious drowning of a Japanese Exchange student last year. All of this, and more, happened within my community. Just thought I'd expand on that point.

Personally, it seems that Pop-culture is painting Asians into the same picture as 'blacks.' It seems to be effective in trapping them there.

Just think of what isn't here: a ball player getting booed, a mysterious suicide and right-wingers calling for the revokation of our citizenship. When essayists have to pick and choose from a profusion of disturbing events, it's usually a sign things are about to get even worse.
