McCheap handjob

I know they’ve been out forever, but I finally tried a McDonalds McGriddle the other day at the urging of the younger brother who said they were really good. So after visiting the DMV we stopped by our local McDonalds and shared one. We got the Mc Griddle meal which came with an OJ and a hashbrown. I had half of the McGriddle and the OJ, and I let my brother have the hash brown because those things are one way tickets to diarrhea-ville for me.

For those who don’t know, a McGriddle is a breakfast sandwich designed for fatties who are on the run and don’t have enough time to inhale two pancakes, syrup, some eggs, cheese and sausage.

The first thing I noticed was how teeny the sandwich was. It couldn’t have been more than 3 inches wide. The second thing I noticed was how little the pancake/bread tasted like maple syrup. I might even describe it sort of like butterscotch or even caramel. I don’t know why I expected the pancake/bread to taste of actual maple syrup when the “hotcake’ syrup they offer at McDonalds has corn syrup as its first ingredient. The egg cheese and sausage tasted how I expected it to, so no surprise there.

My brother who loves McGriddles was disappointed that I didn’t enjoy it, he really expected me, as a fellow fatty to share his passion for all foods foul. But he needn’t worry, I still like McDonalds’ Mcnuggets, those things are cracktastic.

The final thing I noticed is that I was sitting in a McDonalds critiquing a McGriddle like it’s supposed to be fine dining or something. What did I expect? It’s McDonalds, which is the restaurant equivalent of cheap handjobs given with a hand slicked with herpes riddled spit. God I’m such an asshole.

Is that a trademark “M” stamped on the McGriddle bread? Fast food breakfasts depresses the hell out of me and makes me want to hurl, but from what I understand the breakfasts at Sonic (think fastfood joint where carhop waitresses come to your car with your orer when you’re too damn lazy to get out) are not bad.

Dang, I love those things. Just when I thought nothing would be beat out the McMuffin in fast food.

I actually like fast food once in a while, but the McGriddle has me flummoxed. So it’s like sweet and salty flavours all mixed up together? Wouldn’t that just taste weird? And I love the McD hash browns; it’s like their French fries, all fake-potatoey goodness.

I totally appreciate the salty/sweet thing, but McGriddles are pretty gross. The pancake part of it is totally wrong. I stick with the Egg McMuffin.

I loathe to admit it, but I grew up eating the OJ / hashbrown / sausage biscuit combo. My parents would buy ‘em on the weekends, especially as a “before church” treat.

Now that I’m older, I don’t crave it as much… but mmmm, the sweet taste of the OJ and the salty food…

Sometimes I like the idea of sweet and salty - like chocolate covered pretzels - I’ll even have a fig stuffed with cheese and wrapped in prosciutto, but the pretend maple flavor was just offensive!

Ellen, for the love of all that is holy and good, never eat another McNugget again. At least not bbefore you read this:

Nothing wrong with sweet and salty. Pig in a blanket, anyone?

Ha! The ingredient list doesn’t bother me in the least! I always knew they were full of bizarro ingredients and fillers - which is probably what makes them so delicious.

Need I remind anyone that Cia Siu Bao is sweet & salty, and is also the greatest food in the universe??
